File Preparation

Supported Applications:     Adobe Photoshop: All versions up to CS3. Include all layers, paths, channels, links and fonts. Adobe Illustrator: All versions up to CS3. Convert text to outlines, include all linked images. (***Do Not Embed Images) The programs below are not recommended for large format printing and may not reproduce correctly. Please export the file as an EPS or high resolution (High Quality Print setting) PDF suitable for large format printing. Adobe InDesign: All versions up to CS3. Include all layers, paths, channels, links and fonts. Convert text to outlines, include all images. (***Do Not Embed Images) QuarkXPress7: Use the "Save page as EPS" feature under the File menu. Open EPS in Illustrator and convert text to outlines, include all images. (***Do Not Embed Images) ***FYI - Although Microsoft products are similar, desktop publishing programs are not intended for large format printing. Often times we can rework your graphic for production but please call before submitting.

Cut Vinyl:     Files intended for cut vinyl banners or signs must be created as vector (line art) images with outlined type. ***FYI - Cut vinyl graphics cannot be produced from raster (photographic) files. We can often reproduce your graphic with mininal re-work. Desktop time charges will apply.

Resolution:     Optimal results are achieved with the image's resolution printing between 100-150 Dots Per Inch (DPI) at final size. If you are submitting your artwork at 50% actual size, the DPI needs to reflect that. At 50%, the DPI should be 200-300 DPI, 25% should be 400-500 DPI. If you are concerned about file quality, please contact us. We will be happy to evaluate your file. ***FYI - Low resolution files such as those taken from the internet are typically 72 DPI and not adequate for reproduction, especially when enlarged. DO NOT res-up images, this only pixelates the image more by adding artificial pixels. 72 Pixels Per Inch (PPI) is what your computer monitors use, so while it may appear sharp on screen, they will print with poor results.

Printed Or Color Matching Proofs:     Due to different printers, ink, media, not all colors can be precicely duplicated. We will do our best to come as close as possible to colors you request. We strongly recommend ordering a print proof to approve any color matches (Fees will apply). If your project requires a Pantone color match, please reference a Pantone Solid Coated chart and make sure the color is included in your file. You may also us a printout as a guide. Color match or printed proofs will add extra time to production and charges, please plan accordingly. PLEASE NOTE: To create deeper, rich, solid blacks use the following CMYK builds: Dye Sublimation Fabric = (C:40 M:30 Y:30 K:100) Ink Jet = (C:70 M:70 Y:70 K:100) Solvent = (C:75 M:50 Y:0 K:100)

Digital Proofs:     Digital Proofs are generated from the final print file. These proofs should be used for LAYOUT PURPOSES ONLY and not to judge color, or print quality. We can provide an electric proof either a .pdf or .jpg format. This service is provided free of charge. ***If your project has a crucial color(s) that need to be matched or resolution concerns, we highly recommend a printed proof.

Pre-Flight Your Project:     Please go through this list and make sure your file is created correctly: Is our files in a recommended format and supported application?    Are all supported files included?    Did you specify and assure all Pantone colors are in the file as spot colors? Are the images the correct resolution? Did you convert all of the text to outlines?

Sending Files Electronically:     For files under 2MB you can E-mail your attachments to sales@blazingsignworks.com. Please include specifications with any e-mailed artwork, ***Label files and/or file folders in the Subject field with your company name or PO so we can identify your files. For larger files, our FTP service saves you time and shipping expenses by allowing you to upload your entire project from your computer directly to us. To access our FTP server, you must have FTP software; Fetch for the Macintosh platform or WS_FTP for PC platforms.
